Appointments to Community Investment and Inclusion Fund Committee

     The Government announced today (March 28) the appointment of three new members to the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF) Committee for a term of two years with effect from April 1, 2014.

     The new members are Mr Erwin Steve Huang, Ms Lam Pik-chu and Dr Wingco Lo Kam-wing.

     Mr Huang is the Chief Executive Officer of WebOrganic and Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of Senior Citizen Home Safety Association. He is also a member of the Steering Committee on Strategic Development of Information Technology in Education and Social Capital.Net (SC.Net).

     Ms Lam is the Principal of Chiu Yang Por Yen Primary School. She is a member of the Steering Committee on the Child Development Fund, the Primary One Admission Committee and SC.Net, as well as a co-opted member of the Education, Employment and Training Task Force under the Commission on Poverty.

     Dr Lo is the Managing Director of the Wing Li Group (International) Limited. He is Vice Chairman of the Y. Elites Association Limited, General Committee Member of the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong as well as a member of the Design-Business Collaboration Scheme Assessment Panel and SC.Net.

     The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the appointments. He said, "I am most pleased to see members from different sectors joining the Committee. This testifies to the cross-sectoral collaboration that the Committee seeks to promote."

     Mr Cheung also thanked the three outgoing members for their distinguished service and devotion to promoting the work of the Committee. They are Dr Kevin Lau Kin-wah, Professor Albert Lee and Ms Lui Oi-ling.

     The CIIF was established in 2002 to promote social capital development through encouraging mutual support in the neighbourhood, community participation and cross-sectoral partnership. The CIIF Committee is tasked to advise the Government on the development of social capital in Hong Kong as well as vetting applications for funding under the CIIF.
