Three nominations received for Islands District Council by-election

     Three nominations were received by the Returning Officer for the by-election in the Tung Chung North Constituency of Islands District Council by the close of the nomination period today (March 18).

     A full list of the validly nominated candidates will be published in the Gazette after the Returning Officer has validated and confirmed the eligibility of candidature of the nominees.

     A poll will be held on April 27 (Sunday) should there be more than one validly nominated candidate in the constituency. The returned candidate will fill the vacant office of an elected member of Islands District Council.

     The Electoral Affairs Commission will hold a briefing for candidates and their agents at Wan Chai Activities Centre, LG/F, Wan Chai Market, 258 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, at 6.30pm on March 25 (Tuesday).

     The Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Justice Barnabas Fung Wah, will chair the briefing and introduce the guidelines on election-related activities. A representative from the Independent Commission Against Corruption will explain the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance. The Returning Officer and representatives from the Registration and Electoral Office, Hongkong Post and the Department of Justice will also be present.
