Transcript of remarks by CS at media session (with video)

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session after attending the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination 2014 "Hong Kong for All: Vision 2020" today (March 16):

Reporter: Mrs Lam, the pan-democrats, some have expressed doubts about the China visit and they expressed concerns about the itinerary and who will meet. And what the government assists them in arranging such a meeting with pan-democrats? If they don't go, is it still a meaningful trip?

Chief Secretary for Administration: As you will realise, throughout the process of consultation on constitutional development, we have attached a lot of importance to communication with all the members of the Legislative Council. As you all know, from the 18th of March onwards, I will be hosting four breakfast meetings with all the Legislative Council members. And for the first time, we have invited colleagues from the CPG Liaison Office to attend these breakfast meetings as well. So all these are part and parcel of our efforts to engage Legislative Council members, including the pan-democratic members. So as far as this Shanghai trip is concerned, the Chief Executive has emphasised that we would very much like to hear the feedback and suggestions from the members of the Legislative Council. And I am sure that we would try very best to reflect their feedback and requests. And hopefully we will make this Shanghai trip a very meaningful one. Thank you very much.
