Following is the speech by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, delivered at "Hong Kong For All: Vision 2020" in observation of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination 2014 this afternoon (March 16):

Dear friends, ethnic minorities are very much part of the Hong Kong community. Hong Kong is thankful to all of them who have played important roles in shaping our history as well as developing our future. Hong Kong's international and cosmopolitan character is built on embracing cultural diversity and racial harmony. In this year's Policy Address, the Chief Executive has announced an array of measures to support ethnic minorities. The enhanced measures cover, amongst others, the areas of education, employment and community outreach. Some of the measures are particularly targeted at the younger generation and newcomers. It is important for all of us to continue working together to promote racial harmony and mutual understanding in our society. I believe continued efforts by all will definitely help build a flourishing community that celebrates unity in diversity.
