Special traffic and transport arrangements for public parade in Kowloon this Sunday
************************************************************

     The Transport Department (TD) today (March 7) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Kowloon from about 1pm this Sunday (March 9) to facilitate the holding of a public parade.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

Lane closures
-------------

     Traffic lanes on the following road sections will be intermittently closed from about 1pm:

1. A section of Cheung Sha Wan Road northbound between Wong Chuk Street and Boundary Street;
2. A section of Nathan Road southbound between Boundary Street and Jordan Road;
3. A section of Jordan Road westbound between Nathan Road and Canton Road; and
4. A section of Canton Road southbound between Jordan Road and Salisbury Road.

Public transport services
-------------------------

     A total of 42 bus routes operating at the affected areas will be temporarily diverted. The public transport operators concerned will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic along the parade route will be affected on that day. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected roads. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport services as far as possible.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

     Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are available at the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For enquiries, please call 1823.
