Public engagement exercise on population policy to end on Sunday
**********************************************************

The public engagement exercise on population policy will end on Sunday (February 23). A spokesman for the Steering Committee on Population Policy (SCPP) today (February 18) reminded the public to give their views before then.

On October 24, 2013, the SCPP published a consultation document entitled "Thoughts for Hong Kong" and launched the four-month public engagement exercise to deepen the public's understanding of the demographic challenges and facilitate extensive public deliberation on issues related to population policy.

"Population policy concerns each and every one in the community. The SCPP is keen to hear from the public their views on the issues set out in the consultation document," the spokesman said.

"The SCPP has appointed the University of Hong Kong to analyse the public views received. Based on the public views and the policy measures announced in the 2014 Policy Address related to population policy, the SCPP will in the latter half of this year discuss with relevant bureaux and formulate an action agenda covering concrete measures," she said.

The consultation document is available at the thematic website set up for the public engagement exercise (www.hkpopulation.gov.hk/public_engagement).

Interested parties can send their views and comments via the thematic website, by email, via post or by facsimile on or before February 23 to:
