Licence of employment agency revoked
************************************

Operators of employment agencies are reminded to conduct their business in compliance with the Employment Ordinance and the Employment Agency Regulations, or else they will face prosecution and their licences may be revoked.

"A recent case shows the consequences of non-compliance with the law. The employment agency licence of Winna Employment Agency was revoked by the Labour Department after the company was convicted, fined $4,000 and required to compensate $5,626 to a job seeker for overcharging, which is an offence under the Employment Ordinance," a spokesman for the Labour Department said today (February 11).

For enquiries or complaints against unlicensed operations or the overcharging of commissions by employment agencies, please call the Employment Agencies Administration of the Labour Department at 2852 3535, or visit its office at 12/F, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong.
