The City Gallery today (January 27) launched a brand new smartphone application called "City Gallery App 2.0". The application aims to enhance the experience of visitors to the gallery by providing a free information and commentary service.

"City Gallery has been keeping up with advances in technology so as to provide our visitors with added conveniences. We hope that through this application, visitors' touring experiences can be upgraded and transformed into creative, interactive and facilitating ones," a spokesman for the City Gallery said.

"City Gallery App 2.0" is an all-in-one information delivery and touring medium which integrates the innovative use of mobile technology with an outstanding presentation method. It adopts an indoor positioning technology which brings visitors their very own personal touring experience by providing audio guided tours in English, Cantonese and Putonghua for different exhibition zones.

The application also provides the latest events, photos and videos of the gallery. It is available on both iPhone and Android platforms. Users may search for "City Gallery" in the iPhone App Store or the Google Play Store for direct download.

Located at 3 Edinburgh Place, Central, the City Gallery is the first permanent planning and infrastructure gallery in Hong Kong and was officially opened on August 20, 2012. Occupying five storeys with a floor area of more than 3 200 square metres, the gallery offers a host of interactive exhibits to showcase the uniqueness of Hong Kong's past and future, as well as to share with the public the vision for city planning and infrastructure projects.
