CSSA caseload for December 2013

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in December 2013 showed a drop of 515 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent, when compared to that in November, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (January 22).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of December stood at 260 774 (see attached table), with a total of 394 907 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases and low earnings cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.4 per cent and 1.2 per cent to 21 149 cases and 8 891 cases respectively. Single parent cases and permanent disability cases also dropped by 0.5 per cent and 0.2 per cent to 29 193 cases and 18 391 cases respectively.

     Old age cases remained steady at 151 259 cases. Ill-health cases registered a slight increase of 0.3 per cent to 25 157 cases.
