The Home Affairs Bureau today (January 15) announced the re-appointment of 11 incumbent members and the appointment of Ms Sania Yau Sau-wai and Mr Ricky Yu Wai-yip to the Social Enterprise Advisory Committee for a term of two years with effect from January 15, 2014.

Members of the Advisory Committee will include the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme, social enterprise practitioners as well as members from the business and academic sectors who are keen to promote the development of social enterprises.
The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, thanked various sectors for their support on the development of social enterprises. "It is hoped that the Advisory Committee would help bring out the synergy effect through cross-sector collaboration to better respond to the needs of society, and formulate and refine policies that will be beneficial to the development of social enterprises. We are grateful for the support of committee members in the last two years, and we are looking forward to joining hands with the committee members in creating a better ecology for social enterprises in Hong Kong," he said.
The committee's terms of reference are as follows:
(a) to advise the Government on the formulation of policies and strategies for supporting the sustainable development of social enterprises in Hong Kong;
(b) to advise the Government on programmes/activities that promote development of social enterprises and to monitor their implementation;
(c) to foster better understanding and encourage closer co-operation amongst relevant stakeholders in the development of social enterprises; and
(d) to undertake research studies on matters pertaining to the development of social enterprises.
