Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, after attending the Legislative Council (LegCo) Finance Committee meeting today (January 10):
Reporter: Why have you decided to withdraw them (the funding for block allocations on landfill-related items) if you think there is nothing wrong with them?
Secretary for the Environment: On the one hand, we have our internal review and also as appreciated by many Legislative Councillors, they welcomed that there could be more dialogues so that any confusion could be minimised. We are going to re-submit our proposal (landfill extensions) to LegCo very soon, I mean the full package. So I don't think we should waste time on these minor items. We would take some time and very soon we could have a comprehensive dialogue with the Legislative Councillors so that the whole society could have a more comprehensive discussion.
