Acclaimed local actors to perform bittersweet drama "Quartet"
****************************************************

The bittersweet drama "Quartet", produced by the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies, will be staged in February.  The leading cast comprises four prominent local stage performers, Au Ka Man, Luther Luk, Tse Yuet Mei and James Mark. "Quartet" is written by Ronald Harwood and was adapted into a movie directed by Dustin Hoffman in 2012.

The play centres on four former opera singers. Thirty years later, they come together again at an elderly home for retired musicians. The home is under threat of closure due to financial problems, and the four discuss the possibility of reuniting as a quartet on stage. However, their golden voices have gone with time.  The four separated at the zenith of their careers, and two of them are on particularly sour terms as they were former lovers.  Can they overcome their grudge?  Will they be able to spend the rest of their lives together?

"Quartet" is produced by Dominic Cheung and directed by Rensen Chan, while the script was translated by Jo Ngai. The production team includes set designer Jacob Yu, composer and sound designer Lau Wing-tao, lighting designer Billy Tang and costume designer Edmond Wong.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), "Quartet" (performed in Cantonese) will be staged at 8pm on February 21 and 22 (Friday and Saturday) and at 3pm on February 22 and 23 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre.
