SCMA answers media question (with photos)

The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, attended a meeting at the Central and Western District Council this afternoon (January 9) to brief council members on the "Consultation Document on the Methods for Selecting the Chief Executive in 2017 and for Forming the Legislative Council in 2016". The following is the transcript of his remarks at a media standup before attending the meeting.

Reporter: Do you think the (Alliance for True Democracy's) proposal is feasible?

Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs: I think it's too early to say whether a particular proposal is consistent or otherwise with the provisions of the Basic Law. As (members of) the Task Force on Constitutional Development, we should not, and we will not, comment on an individual proposal because it is not fair and it is premature to say so. Take the proposal by the relevant organisation just issued last night, I only received a copy of the proposal last night and I have not yet had the time to study the proposal in detail and carefully. So, it would not be fair for me to offer any further comment on that. Suffice for me to say that we would continue to adopt a very open and listening mode to all sorts of proposals at this stage and as I said, we will not and we shall not comment on individual proposals.
