Members of the public are invited to visit the Exhibition of Secondary School Students' Creative Visual Arts Work (2013/14), which is being held from today (December 30) to January 20 at the Education Bureau (EDB) Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre.
The exhibition, organised by the Arts Education Section of the EDB's Curriculum Development Institute, aims to provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their creativity and artistic ability in visual arts and promote communication among students, teachers and the public. On display are around 500 artworks which have been selected from 1,082 entries submitted by 121 secondary schools. The exhibits cover different topics and a wide range of media such as drawing, painting, printmaking, media art, photography, sculpture, ceramics and design.
In order to encourage more students of different ages to submit their entries, participants are categorised into two age groups, "12 to 14 years old" and "15 years old or above", in the selection of awards. In each age group, gold prizes, silver prizes and certificates of merit were awarded to artworks of four media, namely two-dimensional work, three-dimensional work, Chinese painting and calligraphy, and media art.
The adjudicators selecting the exhibits and awarded entries include the art professionals Ms Choi Yan-chi, Dr Margaret Hui and Dr Francis Yu as well as representatives of the Arts Education Section. The selection criteria comprised creativity, aesthetics, manipulation of techniques and media, and communication.
