SED visits North District (with photos)

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, today (December 20) visited North District to see for himself the development of youth services in the district and listen to the views of District Council members and the general public.

     Accompanied by the District Officer (North), Mr Yau Kin-chung, Mr Ng went to the HKFYG Jockey Club Cheung Wah Youth S.P.O.T. on Cheung Wah Estate this afternoon. The Integrated Children and Youth Service Centre provides children, young people and their parents in the district with diversified services such as academic support, continuing education, social experience, volunteer and leadership training and school partnership programmes.

     Mr Ng looked at a variety of activities including the youth gallery, food production, photography as well as hair and makeup services. He chatted with the young people to listen to their views on employment counselling and support services.

     He was pleased to learn that the young people had realised their interests and aspirations through the services provided by the centre. He encouraged them to continue using their learning to achieve their goals.

     Mr Ng also visited North District Council (DC) where he met with DC members to exchange views on education and other issues.

     In addition, the SED visited some local shops on San Hong Street in Shek Wu Hui, Sheung Shui and communicated with members of the public to learn more about their daily lives.
