Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session after attending the Hong Kong Cancer Day today (December 8):
Reporter: Any comments on yesterday's forum of the violence......? Do you think that is going to prevent officials from participating in further public forums?
Chief Secretary for Administration: I certainly do not think in a society like Hong Kong, which has full respect for the rule of law, that we should tolerate the type of activities that we have seen yesterday; and I do not believe that we will be deterred by such activities because we value a lot the direct dialogue with the people of Hong Kong so we would continue to organise various forms of district forums to discuss and engage with the public. But I certainly would like to appeal to all members of society who want to express their views of a topic of concern to them, they should do it legally.
