Admission tickets for cycling performance at HK Velodrome for free (with photo)
**********************************************************

To mark the completion of the uniquely-designed and well-equipped Hong Kong Velodrome, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will organise a works completion ceremony with spectacular track and artistic cycling performance at 3pm on December 30 (Monday). Members of the public are welcome to obtain free admission tickets on December 15 (Sunday).

The cycling performance will be presented by members of the Hong Kong Cycling Team including the bronze medal winner in the Women's Keirin event at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Miss Lee Wai-sze, and other Hong Kong elite cyclists. They will demonstrate Pursuit and Keirin events in track cycling as well as different types of artistic cycling.

"It will be a not-to-miss opportunity to view these elite cyclists demonstrating their superb skills and speed in the first spectacular indoor cycling facility they call home," an LCSD spokesman said.

A total of 700 free admission tickets will be made available for public collection from 9am to 4pm next Sunday (December 15) at the box office of the Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground at 109 Po Hong Road, Tseung Kwan O. Each person is entitled to a maximum of two tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Besides, students and community groups will be invited to join the event. Ceremony spectators will each get a free souvenir.

Located at 107 Po Hong Road, Tseung Kwan O, the Hong Kong Velodrome together with the adjacent town park cover an approximate area of seven hectares. The velodrome boasts a 250-metre indoor cycling track with supporting facilities of international standards and a multi-purpose arena. There are also sport facilities such as a fitness room, a table-tennis room, a dance room and a children's playroom.

Drawing reference from the concept of the cycling athlete's helmet, the velodrome is uniquely designed and characterised by an exceptional oval, wavy rooftop design, signifying a perfect synthesis of the element of the sports and the architectural building.

Facilities of the velodrome will be open for public use in phases in the first quarter of 2014 - the ground floor facilities including the dance room, table-tennis room and fitness room will be opened in January; the park facilities, skatepark, model-boat pool and amphitheatre in February; and the cycling track and the arena in March/April.

The works completion ceremony with cycling performance is a thematic event of "Vibrant Hong Kong" under the citywide "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign. For enquiries on ticket distribution, please call 2878 8632.
