SED concludes his visit to Guangdong Province (with photos)

     The Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, concluded his two-day official visit to Guangdong Province today (December 3).
     This morning Mr Ng paid a courtesy call on the Department of Education of Guangdong Province to meet with its Director-General, Mr Luo Weiqi. This was followed by a visit to the Bureau of Education of Guangzhou Municipality to meet with its Director-General, Mr Qu Shaobing, and CPC Committee Secretary Mr Hua Tongxu. During the meetings, both sides exchanged views on various education issues from basic education to higher education.
     In the afternoon, Mr Ng went to Jinan University to meet with the university management on the development of higher education and co-operation among the higher education institutions in Guangdong and Hong Kong. He also toured the university campus and met some Hong Kong students to learn about their study and daily life in Guangzhou.
     Officials accompanying Mr Ng included the Deputy Secretary for Education, Mrs Michelle Wong; the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary for Education, Mr Kenneth Cheng; and the Principal Assistant Secretary (Higher Education), Mr Wallace Lau. They will return to Hong Kong tonight.
