     The Government announced today (December 3) that Mr Patrick Nip Tak-kuen, Director (Special Duties), Chief Secretary for Administrationˇ¦s Private Office, will succeed Mr Michael Wong as Director of Information Services on February 24, 2014.  

     Commenting on the appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Paul Tang, said, "Mr Nip is a seasoned Administrative Officer with rich experience in public administration and proven leadership and management skills. I have every confidence that he will continue to serve the community with professionalism and dedication in his new capacity."  

     A brief biographical note on Mr Nip is as follows:

     Aged 49, Mr Nip joined the Administrative Service in August 1986 and rose to his present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade A in April 2011.

     Mr Nip has served in various bureaux and departments, including the former City and New Territories Administration, the former Deputy Chief Secretary's Office, the former Trade and Industry Branch, the former Finance Branch, the former Civil Service Branch, the former Trade Department, the Chief Executive's Office and the former Health and Welfare Bureau (later renamed Health, Welfare and Food Bureau). He was Deputy Director, Beijing Office from August 2004 to September 2006, Deputy Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food (Health) (later re-titled Deputy Secretary for Food and Health (Health)) from November 2006 to July 2009, and Director of Social Welfare from August 2009 to June 2013. Mr Nip has been Director (Special Duties), Chief Secretary for Administration's Private Office since June 2013.
