SE Award Scheme recognises outstanding social enterprises (with photos)
**********************************************************

To boost public understanding of and support for social enterprises (SEs), and to give recognition to outstanding SEs, the Home Affairs Bureau and the Social Enterprise Advisory Committee held the Social Enterprise Award Scheme 2013 award presentation ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre today (November 30). The event gave recognition to 14 outstanding SEs excelling in different categories.

The award presentation ceremony was officiated by the Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Florence Hui, and the Convenor of the Sub-committee for Social Enterprise Award Scheme 2013, Mr Howard Ling.

Ms Hui said, "We are happy to see that the SEs in Hong Kong have progressively diversified in service types and modes of operation. In recent years, we also witnessed more SEs enhancing their management, encouraging innovation while also caring for the needs of their customers and staff members. There were also efforts and fruits of cross-sector collaboration.

"The hard work and achievements of the participating SEs demonstrated the enthusiasm of the management and front-line staff in serving the community and the importance of cross-sector collaboration. The Government will continue to promote the development of SEs and encourage more people from various sectors to support and work towards building a caring and inclusive society."

The 14 awarded SEs adopted innovative thinking and business operating models to meet the needs of different groups in the community, reflecting the social values and caring culture of the SEs.
