Li Fei and Zhang Rongshun continue visit to HK (with photos)

     The Deputy Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPCSC) cum Chairman of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Basic Law Committee (BLC) under the NPCSC, Mr Li Fei, and the Vice-Chairperson of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPCSC cum Vice-Chairperson of the BLC, Mr Zhang Rongshun, today (November 22) exchanged views with HKSAR senior officials and members of the community on issues relating to the Basic Law and the political structure of the HKSAR on the second day of their visit to Hong Kong.

     In the morning, Mr Li and Mr Zhang attended an internal seminar at the Central Government Offices at Tamar to exchange views with HKSAR Principal Officials, Executive Council Non-Official Members, officials under the Political Appointment System, Permanent Secretaries and department heads.

     This was followed by a luncheon hosted by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, in honour of Mr Li and Mr Zhang at Government House. Over 100 guests were invited to the luncheon, including Hong Kong members of the NPCSC's HKSAR Basic Law Committee, members of the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee, President of the Legislative Council and the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of the House Committee, the Panel on Constitutional Affairs and the Panel on Administration of Justice and Legal Services, representatives from business and trade associations, the Chairmen of the District Councils as well as representatives from think tanks.

     Speaking at the beginning of the luncheon, Mrs Lam said that the Task Force on Constitutional Development had undertaken preparatory work since its establishment a month ago and a consultation document would be released next month to gauge public views.

     In the afternoon, Mr Li and Mr Zhang met with the Hong Kong Bar Association and the Law Society of Hong Kong in separate meetings.
