Zunyi Acrobatic Troupe from Guizhou Province to perform daunting acrobatics in December

     The Zunyi Acrobatic Troupe of Guizhou Province will perform in Hong Kong in December. Along with music, dance and special lighting effects, this highly talented troupe will entertain the audience with their award-winning and daunting acrobatics including "Stacked Chairs", "Flickering Candlelight", "Dribbling", "Hoop Jumping on a Table", "Aerial Ballet on Shoulders" and "Jumpboard Juggling with Feet". The performance offers a showcase of traditional acrobatic skills and innovative visual effects.

     One of the acts in "Stacked Chairs" is listed in the Guinness World Records and achieved a Gold Lion Award at the 4th All China Youth and Junior Acrobatics Competition. The troupe also won the Fangcao Cup Gold Award for Junior Section at the 5th Wuhan International Acrobatics Art Festival of China.  Another act, "Flickering Candlelight" took the Gold Lion Award at the 4th All China Youth and Junior Acrobatics Grand Prix and won the Honorary Medal at the Budapest International Circus Competition, Hungary. "Balancing Act", "Hat Trick" and "Contortion" won the Gold Award at the 4th Chinese Acrobatics Competition, the Gold Lion Award at the 3rd All China Junior Acrobatics Grand Prix and the Silver Award at the Youth and Junior Acrobatics Grand Prix of China's Southwest Region respectively.

     The Zunyi Acrobatic Troupe of Guizhou Province was founded in 1958. Since then it has performed in many countries and regions in Asia, Europe and the Americas, and won over a hundred medals and awards in acrobatic competitions in Mainland China and in the international arena. Its young members in particular have won many major awards in youth competitions. "Dreamscape", a spectacular acrobatic song and dance show, was listed in the Top Ten Outstanding Stage Arts Projects of China in 2003.

     "The Zunyi Acrobatic Troupe of Guizhou Province" is one of the attractions of the "Cheers!" series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
