Man and woman jailed for possessing and conspiracy to use false instruments

     The District Court today (November 5) sentenced two expatriate man and woman to an imprisonment of 28 months and 32 months respectively for possessing and conspiracy to use false instruments.

     The court heard that on June 3, the 31-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were arrested for using counterfeit credit cards to make purchases in Tsim Sha Tsui. Upon search, Police seized a total of eight counterfeit credit cards from them. The woman was also found in possession of a forged identity document.

     The arrestees were each charged with one count of possessing false instruments and jointly charged with one count of conspiracy to use false instruments. They pleaded guilty to the charges today.

     Police reiterate the serious consequences of possessing or using counterfeit credit cards and also their determination to help maintain Hong Kong's safe and stable business environment through the prevention and detection of crime.
