Fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei this (October 22) morning in which a 54-year-old man died.

     About 5.20am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 59-year-old man was travelling along eastbound Lai Cheung Road. When turning right to Ferry Street, it reportedly knocked down the 54-year-old man who was pushing a wooden trolley at the roadside.

     Sustaining serious injuries to his neck and back, the man was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital where he was certified dead at 6.40am.

     After the incident, the LGV left the scene and later returned. The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are underway.
