Hong Kong Underwater Photo and Video Competition 2013 concludes successfully (with photos)

The Hong Kong Underwater Photo and Video Competition 2013 concluded successfully today (October 19) with the award presentation.

A spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said that the AFCD and the Hong Kong Underwater Association jointly organised the competition again this year to promote the beauty of marine life and habitats in Hong Kong waters and enhance public awareness of conserving the marine environment.

"This year the competition received an overwhelming response. There were 365 entries, representing an increase of 35 per cent over last year. The overall standard of entries was outstanding," said the spokesman.

The competition comprises two photo categories, namely the Macro and Close-up Group and the Standard and Wide Angle Group, as well as a video category. All entries were required to feature marine ecology, habitats or marine life in Hong Kong waters and had to be taken during the period October 1, 2012 to September 16, 2013.

A champion, a first runner-up, a second runner-up and 10 outstanding awards were selected for each category. Each winner was awarded a trophy or a certificate.
