The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO), promoted Hong Kong films in Russia by organising the "Hong Kong Film Festival in Moscow 2013" at the Khudozhestvenny Cinema, Moscow. The Festival opened on October 11 (Moscow time) with a screening of "Bodyguards And Assassins", which was awarded Best Film at The 29th Hong Kong Film Awards.

The Festival, which runs from October 11 to 13, will also show other Hong Kong films including "Drug War", "Cold War", "The Silent War", and "Life Without Principle". The Festival is co-organised by the London ETO, Academia Rossica and Vertov Real Kino.

The "Hong Kong Film Festival in Moscow 2013" is one of several events organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government as part of "Hong Kong Week" in Russia.

"Hong Kong Week" started on October 9 with the "A Journey to Hong Kong" Exhibition at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Moscow, which will run until November 14. On October 10, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra staged an ensemble concert at the Central House of Architect, Moscow at the conclusion of a tour to Russia which also included concerts in Chelyabinsk, Ekaterinburg and Tyumen.

Speaking at the opening screening of the film festival, the Director-General of the London ETO, Miss Erica Ng, said, "The Hong Kong film industry has been thrilling and entertaining people for many decades, and highlights the talent, creativity and competitiveness of Hong Kong. The five films shown at the 'Hong Kong Film Festival in Moscow 2013' are excellent examples of what the Hong Kong film industry can do."

"This film festival is one more example of how we are strengthening Hong Kong's cultural links with Russia since we signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Co-operation with Russia in 2011. Earlier this year, the 'Fabergé: Legacy of Imperial Russia' exhibition was held in Hong Kong. In June this year, a festival of Russian films also took place in Hong Kong. Our Office has worked with Russian partners to organise festivals of Hong Kong films in Moscow, of which this is the latest one."
