Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island during Chung Yeung Festival

    Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island to facilitate vehicular traffic and pedestrian movements during Chung Yeung festival.

Chai Wan
--------

Phase 1

     Traffic control will be implemented on the section of Cape Collinson Road east of Lin Shing Road between 9am and 4pm daily on September 29, October 1, 5 and 26, November 2 and 3.

Phase 2

     The following roads will be closed between 7am and 6pm daily on October 6, 12, 19, 20, and 27; or when necessary:

- The slip road leading from Cape Collinson Road to the Garden of Remembrance and Crematorium, except for hearses and vehicles conveying people to attend services at the Crematorium;
- The slip road leading to Chai Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery;
- Wan Tsui Lane;
- Cape Collinson road east of Lin Shing Road, except for green minibus(GMB) route 18M, hearses, funeral vehicles, and vehicles with permit;
- Cape Collinson Road west of Lin Shing Road, except for franchised buses, GMB routes 16A, 16M, 16X and 18M, hearses, funeral vehicles and vehicles with permit; and
- Lin Shing Road, except for franchised buses, GMB routes 16A, 16M, 16X and 18M, hearses, funeral vehicles, vehicles with permit and vehicles to Wan Tsui Estate.

     Depending on traffic conditions, taxis and public light buses (PLBs) may be allowed to enter Lin Shing Road and turn right to Cape Collinson Road.

Phase 3

     The following roads will be closed between 7am and 6.30pm on October 13 and 14:
- Roads closed in Phase 2;
- Lin Shing Road, except for franchised buses, GMB routes 16A, 16M, 16X, hearses, funeral vehicles, vehicles with permit and vehicles to Wan Tsui Estate; and
- Cape Collinson Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic, except for franchised buses, GMB routes 16A, 16M, 16X, hearses, funeral vehicles and vehicles with permit.

     In connection with road closure, the following roads will be re-routed one way:
- The eastern section of Wan Tsui Road between Chai Wan Road and Fei Tsui Road will be re-routed one way westbound;
- The section of Lin Shing Road from Wan Tsui Road to Cape Collinson Road will be re-routed one way southbound; and
- The section of Cape Collinson Road from the slip road leading to the Crematorium to Shek O Road will be re-routed one way westbound.

     No parking will be permitted along Cape Collinson Road, Lin Shing Road, Wan Tsui Road and a section of Shek O Road between Lai Chi Rehabilitation Centre and Tai Tam Road.

     Taxis, PLBs and private cars will not be permitted to enter Lin Shing Road for Cape Collinson Road except for access to Wan Tsui Estate.  They will be allowed to drop off passengers at the PLB stand at Fei Tsui Road near the junction with Wan Tsui Road.

     Depending on traffic condition, PLBs may be prohibited from entering Tai Tam Road from Chai Wan Road.

     PLBs will be prohibited from picking up or dropping off passengers on the section of Wan Tsui Road between Chai Wan Road and Fei Tsui Road.

     The PLB stand at Fei Tsui Road near the junction with Wan Tsui Road will be suspended.

     The taxi stand at Kut Shing Street outside Chai Wan MTR station will be suspended and relocated to the lay-by of Kut Shing street west of its junction with Cheung Lee Street.

Pok Fu Lam
----------
     Consort Rise between Victoria Road to Bisney Road will be re-routed one way southbound between 7am and 5pm on October 6, 12, 13, 14 and 19.

Aberdeen
--------
     Peel Rise in the vicinity of the Aberdeen Chinese Cemetery and the slip road from Shek Pai Wan Road leading to the Aberdeen Chinese Cemetery will be closed between 7.30am and 5.30pm on October 6, 12 and 19; and between 7.30am and 6.30pm on October 13 and 14.

Central
-------
     The slip road from Garden Road leading to the office of World Wide Fund for Nature Hong Kong will be closed between 8am and 8pm on October 13 except for taxis and franchised buses.  All parking spaces on the slip road will be suspended between 6am and 8pm on October 13.  The taxi stand on the slip road will be relocated to the lay by outside St. John¡¦s Building on Garden Road between 8am and 8pm on October 13.

The Peak
--------
     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented between 8am and 8pm on October 13:
- All uphill vehicles along Peak Road towards Harlech Road, Lugard Road and Mount Austin Road, except for residents or with permit, will be diverted downhill via the slip road beside the car park entrance at the Peak Galleria;
- Only vehicles with permit will be allowed to enter Lugard Road and Harlech Road;
- Mount Austin Road will be accessible by residents only;
- A section of westbound Mount Austin Road between its junction with Peak Road and the entrance of Mount Austin Playground may be closed if necessary. Then, one-lane two ways vehicular traffic will be implemented on eastbound Mount Austin Road; and
- Metered and motorcycle parking spaces near Victoria Peak Garden on Mount Austin Road will be suspended.

     Vehicles parked illegally would be towed away without prior notice. Motorists are urged to drive with care and patience.

     Actual implementation of special traffic arrangements will be made at the time depending on conditions in the areas.
