HK Customs seizes methamphetamine at airport (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (September 12) arrested three outgoing passengers at the Hong Kong International Airport and seized about 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine (ice) with a value of about $1.7 million.

     Officers of the Customs Drug Investigation Bureau yesterday arrested three male passengers who were departing for Auckland, New Zealand, at the airport. The drugs were found packed around their waists and thighs.
 
     The three suspects, two of them aged 19 and the other one aged 23, claimed to be a construction worker, a hawker and unemployed. The case is still under investigation.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence and the maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
