Correctional officers stop assault by inmate

     Correctional Services officers stopped an inmate from assaulting another inmate in Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre yesterday (September 10).

     At about 3.20pm, a 22-year-old male inmate launched a sudden attack on another male inmate, aged 38, by biting his left index finger inside a dayroom. On-duty officers immediately stopped the assault and separated the two men.

     Both the victim and the assailant were examined and treated in the treatment room. The victim was later transferred to a public hospital for further examination and treatment. The assailant sustained no injury.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The assailant was serving a sentence for an offence of wounding, while the victim was serving a sentence for the offence of destroying or damaging property.
