Hospital Authority announces senior staff movements
***************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

At the Administrative and Operational Meeting today (August 22), the Hospital Authority (HA) Board deliberated and endorsed a series of senior staff movements.

The HA Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin, said, "To safeguard the quality and reliability of health-care services to the people of Hong Kong, one of the key initiatives of the HA is to implement senior executive rotation to continuously develop and groom its own leaders with the necessary skills, experience and exposure. In the coming few months, there will be a series of senior executive rotations."

Dr Hung Chi-tim, currently Cluster Chief Executive (CCE) (Kowloon Central) and Hospital Chief Executive (HCE) of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and Rehabaid Centre (RC), will take up the post of CCE (New Territories East) and HCE of Prince of Wales Hospital on January 1, 2014, upon the retirement of Dr Fung Hong.

Dr Albert Lo, currently CCE (New Territories West) and HCE of Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH), will take up the post of CCE (Kowloon Central) and HCE of QEH and RC on the same date.

The consequential vacancy of CCE (New Territories West) and HCE of TMH would be subject to open recruitment, considering that more suitable candidates for CCE would likely in time be available from the succession pool.

As an interim arrangement, Dr Lo Su-vui, Director (Strategy & Planning), would be seconded to deputise the role of CCE (New Territories West) and HCE of TMH for six months from January 1 to June 30, 2014.

Dr Leung would also like to announce that with effect from August 22, Dr Nancy Tung, currently CCE (Kowloon West) and HCE of Princess Margaret Hospital, will take up the post of HCE of North Lantau Hospital (NLTH) in addition to her current role. NLTH will commence service provision in September 2013.

Dr Leung wishes the above colleagues every success in their new positions and would like to extend his sincere appreciation and gratitude for the contribution of Dr Fung, who has contributed his valuable expertise to the HA at both Head Office and Cluster level. "I would like to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to Dr Fung for his distinctive contributions in public health-care services in the past 30 years. I wish him every success in all his future endeavours," Dr Leung remarked.
