Operator fined for violation of safety rule

     A crane operator was fined $16,000 at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (August 16) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred at an open storage yard in Yuen Long on December 9 last year, in which a worker was trapped to death between the jib of a truck-mounted crane and a concrete parapet.
