The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, continued his visit to New Zealand today (August 6, Wellington time). He met a number of New Zealand's senior government officials in Wellington during the day and spoke at the opening reception of the Hong Kong Festival in the evening.
Mr So met the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr Bill English; the Minister for Commerce, Minister for Broadcasting and Minister for Consumer Affairs, Mr Craig Foss; the Mayor of Wellington, Ms Celia Wade-Brown; and the Minister for Economic Development, Mr Steven Joyce. During the meetings, Mr So discussed issues of mutual interest with them.
In the evening, Mr So spoke at the opening reception of the Hong Kong Festival in Wellington co-organised by the Hong Kong New Zealand Business Association and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Sydney (Sydney ETO).
Mr So also attended a dinner with members of the Hong Kong New Zealand Parliamentary Friendship Group. Encouraged by the Sydney ETO, the Group was launched in March 2012 to foster the relationship between Hong Kong and the parliamentary members. Earlier, Mr So had a meeting with the Group's Convenor Mr John Hayes.
Mr So will be back in Hong Kong tomorrow (August 7).
