The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, today (July 22) visited a public rental housing (PRH) site in Tseung Kwan O and Wo Che Estate in Sha Tin.

The PRH project, Yee Ming Estate, is situated in Tseung Kwan O Area 65B. The construction work is anticipated to complete in early 2014. It will provide a total of 2,059 flats in three 32- to 33-storey domestic blocks for a population of about 5,700.

Professor Cheung noted that the development potential of the project was optimised by including an adjacent 0.5-hectare Public Open Space site. Fitness equipment, sitting-out areas, a tai chi exercise area and a cycle track will be provided in the Public Open Space, serving as a supplement to the recreational facilities in the main domestic portion. To promote conservation of water, a reclaimed rainwater system is constructed within the Public Open Space to recycle the collected rainwater for irrigation of plants.

During the visit, Professor Cheung was also briefed on the planning of the Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) development at Tseung Kwan O Area 65C2. It is estimated that the planned HOS development will provide about 1,100 flats in five domestic blocks for a population of about 3,400. Construction work is anticipated to commence in 2015 and complete in 2018.

Before touring the PRH site in Tseung Kwan O, Professor Cheung also visited Wo Che Estate in Sha Tin. He had a tea gathering with members of the Estate Management Advisory Committee to listen to their views on estate management. He then visited a social service centre run by a non-governmental organisation in the estate.
