CS meets Zhuhai officials (with photos)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, visited Zhuhai today (July 5) and paid a courtesy call on the Secretary of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee, Mr Li Jia, and the Mayor of the Zhuhai Municipal Government, Mr He Ningka.

     "The National 12th Five-Year Plan has a dedicated chapter on Hong Kong and Macau, giving strong support for deepening the regional co-operation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. The development of Hengqin is one of the seven major co-operation projects. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government attaches great importance to Hong Kong/Guangdong co-operation. With the internationally acclaimed service industry as well as high-quality professionals and talents with extensive international market experience, Hong Kong can leverage on the economic development in the Mainland with a view to enhancing the competitiveness of the region together," Mrs Lam said during the meeting with Mr Li and Mr He. Mrs Lam then visited Hengqin and the integrated development of tourism, leisure, conference and exhibition facilities there.

     Mrs Lam took the opportunity to receive a briefing on the latest works progress of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project. Construction of the bridge began in mid-2012 and is progressing satisfactorily. The project is expected to complete in 2016.

     Mrs Lam also met with around 20 Hong Kong people working in Zhuhai to understand their current situation.

     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, joined Mrs Lam's visit to Zhuhai.
