Work Incentive Transport Subsidy Scheme opens for individual applications
************************************************************

Starting from this month (July), the Work Incentive Transport Subsidy (WITS) Scheme is also open for individual applications from eligible persons. Applications can be submitted by post, through the Application Drop-in Boxes at the Job Centres and the Headquarters of the Labour Department (LD), or by hand to the WITS Division of the LD.

The WITS Scheme provides the option of individual application as an alternative to household application from the claim months of 2013. The income and asset limits for WITS have also been raised in parallel. Eligible persons may apply under the new limits.

Since WITS applicants may claim the subsidy for the previous six to 12 months in each application, individual-based applicants may now apply for the subsidy for the claim months of January to June 2013, or apply later for a longer period of subsidy not exceeding the previous 12 months.

Application forms are available at the Job Centres, the Headquarters and the WITS Division of the LD, Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department, and Social Security Field Units of the Social Welfare Department. Members of the public may also download the application forms from the LD's homepage.

Enquiries about details of the Scheme can be made at its 24-hour hotline 2717 1771 (handled by 1823) and enquiry counters of the WITS Division at G/F, 15 Middle Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Details of the Scheme are also available at the LD's homepage (www.labour.gov.hk).
