The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, and the Hong Kong business delegation today (June 26) continued their visit programme in Cambodia by meeting various business associations to enhance interaction between Hong Kong and Cambodian businesses.

Mr Tsang started the day by attending a breakfast reception in Phnom Penh with the China Hong Kong and Macau Expatriate and Business Association of Cambodia. This enabled Mr Tsang to better understand the business and work of Hong Kong people in Cambodia. The discussion also provided an opportunity for Cambodian business people to learn about the economic and trade opportunities in Hong Kong and also a chance to tell the Hong Kong delegation about Cambodia's business potential for investors.

A meeting with the Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, Ms Neav Chanthana, came after the breakfast reception. The Deputy Governor outlined Cambodia's latest economic situation and the work of bank regulation. Mr Tsang introduced Hong Kong's Renminbi (RMB) business, including the use of RMB in trade settlement services. Both sides agreed to strengthen the exchanges of regulators.

This was followed by a meeting with the President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Mr Kith Meng. Both sides had in-depth discussion on investment opportunities in Cambodia.

Mr Tsang and the business delegation also attended a lunch hosted by the Chairman of the Association of Banks in Cambodia, Mr Pung Kheav Se.

In addition, Mr Tsang and the business delegation paid a site visit to a manufacturing factory specialising in knitted sweaters operated by a group of companies headquartered in Hong Kong.

Having concluded the Cambodia leg of his visit, Mr Tsang left for Yangon, Myanmar, in the evening for the second leg of his visit from tomorrow (June 27) to June 29.
