The fishermen of Aberdeen are offering a great way for the public to enjoy a cool sea breeze with the Fishermen Apprentice Workshops on June 30.

Participants will be taken out on fishing boats, which are up to 70 feet long, to give them a taste of life and work at sea. Apprentices will learn basic skills on work safety and life saving as well as inshore fishing methods such as cage trapping, lining and gillnetting.

Two more workshops will be organised in July, during which fishermen will teach participants the difference between a fresh sea catch and those from fish farms.

At an earlier workshop the fishermen shared their recipe for making the famous Aberdeen fish balls. The Fishermen Apprentice Workshops are organised by the Southern District Tourism and Culture Festival Organising Committee.
