Government proposes to construct new berths at Sai Kung Public Pier
********************************************************

The Government intends to construct two additional berths at the existing Sai Kung Public Pier to alleviate the overcrowding problem there.

There are currently two public piers in Sai Kung Town Centre, namely Sai Kung Public Pier and Sai Kung New Public Pier. During summer, the piers are often crowded with people waiting for boarding and it takes a long time for vessels to dock. Therefore, the Government proposed to construct two additional berths at Sai Kung Public Pier to meet the demand.

The proposed project is within an area of approximately 0.88 hectares of foreshore and seabed. It is scheduled to commence in December 2013 and to be completed by June 2015.

The extent of the foreshore and seabed area affected is stated in a notice published in the Government Gazette today (June 14).

The notice together with its related plan can be viewed on notice boards posted near the site. The plan can also be seen at the Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office, 23/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong (where copies can be purchased on order); at the Sai Kung District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, G/F, Sai Kung Tseung Kwan O Government Complex, 38 Pui Shing Road, Hang Hau, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories; and on the Lands Department's website (www.landsd.gov.hk) under Government Notices.

Any person who considers that he or she has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong by August 14.
