The Government will close a portion of the westbound footpath and carriageway of Waterloo Road between Nathan Road and Portland Street to facilitate improvement works at the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) Yau Ma Tei Station. The notices were published in the Government Gazette today (June 7).
The footpath and carriageway will be permanently closed and altered from July 8, 2013 for the construction of a new MTR external lift. To facilitate the works, the other part of the footpath and carriageway will be temporarily closed and altered for a period of about 43 months from the same date. During the construction period, pedestrians will be diverted and a footpath with a minimum width of 1.5 metres will be maintained.
A plan showing the affected areas is available for public inspection at the Public Enquiry Service Centre, Yau Tsim Mong District Office, G/F, Mong Kok Government Offices, 30 Luen Wan Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon; and at the District Lands Office (Kowloon West), 10/F, Yau Ma Tei Carpark Building, 250 Shanghai Street, Kowloon.
The Secretary for Development has, by order under section 10(1)(a) and section 10 (1)(b) of the Mass Transit Railway (Land Resumption and Related Provisions) Ordinance (Cap.276), authorised the closure and alteration of roads for the purposes of construction, operation, maintenance or improvement of the MTR.
Any person entitled to compensation under the Ordinance who wishes to make a claim for compensation should write to the Director of Lands, 20/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point.
