The Education Bureau (EDB) today (May 27) reminded Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination candidates that they can make advance applications for full-time locally accredited sub-degree and degree programmes not covered by the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) for the 2013/14 academic year during the second phase of the Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programmes (E-APP) from today until June 30.
A spokesman for the EDB said, "The second phase of applications is to allow more time for candidates to apply for programmes via E-APP and to map out their study pathways.
"Using this one-stop internet-based service, candidates only need to complete and submit one application via E-APP to apply for multiple programmes. Institutions will process E-APP applications as early as possible and may give eligible candidates conditional offers before the announcement of HKDSE Examination results."
More than 24,000 students made use of E-APP during the main round of applications from December 3, 2012 to May 19, 2013, with a total of about 70,000 applications lodged for locally-accredited post-secondary programmes not covered by JUPAS for the 2013/14 academic year.
The spokesman said, "As some institutions may cease to accept applications through E-APP earlier than June 30 in accordance with their admission arrangements, students are reminded to check the application periods of individual institutions through the E-APP website at www.eapp.gov.hk or with the institutions direct.
"The EDB has uploaded onto the E-APP website a summary of the application periods of all institutions during the second phase for reference of the applicants."
E-APP is an internet-based system first launched by EDB in February 2012 to provide an alternative and convenient application platform to supplement those currently offered by individual institutions. Some institutions may continue to accept applications by other means after the close of the second phase of E-APP applications on June 30.
