Employer fined for violation of safety rule

     Main Shine Development Limited was fined $18,000 at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Court today (April 29) for violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred in Tsuen Wan on January 7 last year, in which a worker fell a distance of about 2 metres while climbing up a metal stepladder to repair a sewage pipe. He subsequently passed away.
