SJ to attend legal and arbitration seminar in Xiamen

     The Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC, will visit Xiamen on April 26 and 27 to attend the Seminar on Hong Kong Legal and Arbitration Services and deliver an opening address.

     The seminar, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, carries the theme "Going-out" - legal issues, risk management and dispute resolution. The seminar mainly aims to promote Hong Kong's important role as a legal services and dispute resolution centre in the Asia Pacific Region, and the services and assistance provided by Hong Kong's legal and arbitration professions to Mainland enterprises in their process of "going-out".  

     The seminar will be attended by legal and arbitration professionals, government officials and business sectors in both Fujian Province and Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong Bar Association, the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission Hong Kong Arbitration Centre and the Asia Office of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce.      The seminar is one of the activities under Fujian Xiamen Hong Kong Week 2013, which aims to enhance and deepen the co-operation between Fujian Province and Hong Kong in trade and economics, professional services, culture and creative industries.

     During his stay in Xiamen, Mr Yuen will meet the Party Secretary of Xiamen, Mr Yu Weiguo, and the Director-General of the Department of Justice of Fujian Province, Mr Chen Yixing. He will also visit exhibitions of Fujian Xiamen Hong Kong Week 2013. Also joining the visit will be the Deputy Solicitor General, Mr Peter Wong.

     Mr Yuen will return to Hong Kong on April 27 (Saturday) evening.
