Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, on the measures for prevention and surveillance of human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) implemented by the hotel industry after inspecting a hotel today (April 18):
I am very glad to have the opportunity here today to collaborate with the hotel industry to inspect and discuss about the preventive measures, particularly in view of the concern on influenza. Not that we currently have a problem, but preventive and precautionary measures taken are always very important. In case there will be individual cases of people being ill, there are measures here that we would cater to individual cases, and provide the necessary assistance including medical assistance, so that these cases will not spread and that the necessary assistance be rendered to our travellers, and allow the industry as a whole will not be negatively affected by these cases.
