United Nations Sanctions (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) (Amendment) Regulation 2013 gazetted

     The Government today (April 12) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) (Amendment) Regulation 2013 (the Amendment Regulation), which came into operation on the same date.

     "The Amendment Regulation amends the existing sanctions against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to implement the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2087 to expand the scope of sanctions against the DPRK under UNSCR 1718 to include a list of additional items, materials, equipment, goods and technology related to ballistic missile programmes," a government spokesman said.

     The Amendment Regulation mainly provides for an expanded scope of items subject to sanctions to include all items, materials, equipment, goods and technology as per the International Atomic Energy Agency documents INFCIRC/254/Rev.11/Part1 and INFCIRC/254/Rev.8/Part2 and the United Nations Security Council document S/2012/947.
