The newly built Kwun Tong Swimming Pool will be open for public use on April 1 (Monday). Swimmers will have one more place to enjoy the fun of swimming in the new swimming season.
Managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), Kwun Tong Swimming Pool is located at the former soccer pitches site inside Kwun Tong Recreation Ground at 2 Tsui Ping Road and adjacent to Tsui Ping Estate. Occupying an area of about 18 000 square metres, it is the largest swimming pool in Kwun Tong District, providing all-weather and comprehensive indoor and outdoor swimming facilities for people in the community.
It offers a wide range of swimming facilities, including an indoor heated main pool measuring 50m x 25m, an indoor heated training pool measuring 25m x 30m, an outdoor secondary pool measuring 50m x 21m, two outdoor teaching pools measuring 25m x 12.5m and a sunbathing area. The main pool, featuring a spectator stand with around 1 500 seats, is suitable for holding swimming competitions.
The brand-new Kwun Tong Swimming Pool has a splendidly innovative design, embracing green elements all around.
The building has adopted various energy efficient features. Making use of renewable energy technologies, various types of environmental protection equipment are installed such as a solar hot water system, a photovoltaic system and solar park lighting. A rainwater recycling system is adopted for landscape irrigation as well as to assist with water conservation.
The swimming pool complex is easily accessible by public transport. Members of the public can get there by taking the MTR or various bus routes.
