Senior Counsel appointed

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:
 
     The Honourable Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma Tao-li is pleased to announce today (March 26) the appointment of eight Senior Counsel of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. They are:

Mr Paul Lam Ting-kwok
Mr Wesley Wong Wai-chung
Mr Simon Tam Man-fai
Ms Yvonne Cheng Wai-sum
Dr William Wong Ming-fung
Ms Audrey Patricia Campbell-Moffat
Ms Roxanne Ismail
Mr Douglas Mark Arthur Strachan

     The appointments are made by the Chief Justice under section 31A of the Legal Practitioners Ordinance.

     The appointments will take effect from the date of the Instrument of Appointment, which will be executed on May 11, 2013, when the ceremonial proceedings will be held at 10am in Court No. 1 in the High Court.

     The biographical notes of the newly appointed Senior Counsel are as follows:

Mr Paul Lam Ting-kwok

     Mr Paul Lam Ting-kwok, aged 45, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Hong Kong. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1992. He has a civil practice.
 
Mr Wesley Wong Wai-chung

     Mr Wesley Wong Wai-chung, aged 42, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Hong Kong. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1993. He is Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions at the Department of Justice.

Mr Simon Tam Man-fai

     Mr Simon Tam Man-fai, aged 56, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Hong Kong. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1993. He is Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions at the Department of Justice.

Ms Yvonne Cheng Wai-sum

     Ms Yvonne Cheng Wai-sum, aged 39, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Jurisprudence at the University of Oxford. She completed her Bar Finals in 1996. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Gray's Inn), and to the Hong Kong Bar in 1996. She has a civil practice.

Dr William Wong Ming-fung

     Dr William Wong Ming-fung, aged 41, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Jurisprudence at the University of Oxford. He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple), and to the Hong Kong Bar in 1997. He was admitted to the Bar of the British Virgin Islands in 2010. He has a civil practice.

Ms Audrey Patricia Campbell-Moffat

     Ms Audrey Patricia Campbell-Moffat, aged 56, obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Reading. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple) in 1987 and was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 2000. She has a mainly criminal practice.

Ms Roxanne Ismail

     Ms Roxanne Ismail, aged 42, obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of London. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Lincoln's Inn) in 1993 and to the Hong Kong Bar in 2001. She has a civil practice.

Mr Douglas Mark Arthur Strachan

     Mr Douglas Mark Arthur Strachan, aged 66, obtained his Bachelor of Civil Law degree at the University of Oxford. He was admitted to the English Bar (Inner Temple) in 1969 and was called to the Inner Bar in 1987. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 2002. He has a civil practice.
