The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) will run a blood promotion campaign titled "Let's Start Giving Blood At Easter" from tomorrow (March 26) to April 4 to encourage blood donation. Anyone who successfully donates blood during the above period at any donor centre or mobile blood collection point will receive a set of cool Post-it memo pads while stocks last.
Easter carries the meaning of a new beginning. The BTS hopes that those citizens who have yet to roll up their sleeves and donate will finally begin to give blood, while those who are overdue for blood donation will seize the chance and resume giving blood during the coming Easter holidays. By so doing, Hong Kong's donor pool will not only be sustained but will also grow steadily to ease the pressure of rising blood demand caused by the ageing population. The practical Post-it memo pads will be given to donors this time so they can write down their next donation appointment. They can then stick the Post-it on a calendar or somewhere conspicuous as a reminder.
