Stanley Prison officers stop fight among inmates

     Correctional services officers today (March 17) stopped a fight among five inmates at Stanley Prison.

     At about 8.30am, a 45-year-old inmate attacked another 51-year-old inmate with his fists inside a bathroom and was immediately stopped by the officers at the scene. When the victim was escorted away, the assailant together with a 45-year-old inmate started fighting with another two inmates, aged 33 and 46. The fight was eventually stopped by the reinforced staff.

     During the incident, two inmates, aged 33 and 51, sustained head injuries but were in conscious condition. They were taken to the centre hospital for medical examination and were subsequently sent to a public hospital for further treatment.

     The case was reported to the Police for investigation.

     The two injured inmates are serving sentences for trafficking in dangerous drugs.
