FEHD orders Yau Ma Tei restaurant to suspend business for two weeks

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yau Ma Tei to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area.

The restaurant, located at shop A on the ground floor at No. 41 Temple Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (March 3) to March 16.

"In August and November last year, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $7,300 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in March and July last year. A total fine of $4,200 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in September last year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
