Quotations invited for consultancy study on detailed financial profile of procurement and financing for Multi-purpose Sports Complex at Kai Tak
*****************************************************

The Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) today (February 8) invited written quotations for a consultancy study to advise on detailed financial models for the procurement and financing of the Multi-purpose Sports Complex (MPSC) at Kai Tak.

In line with the Government's policy objectives for sports development - namely to promote sport in the community, to develop elite sport and to make Hong Kong a major location for international sports events - the MPSC will provide new facilities that will help generate greater community interest in sport and reinforce Hong Kong's profile as a centre for international sporting events.

The consultancy study is expected to start in March this year for completion by mid-2013. Interested parties are invited to submit technical and fee proposals to the HAB before noon on March 7, 2013. Enquiries may be directed to the Recreation and Sport Branch of the HAB on 3509 8052 or at habrs@hab.gov.hk.

An initial Technical Feasibility Study, completed in 2009, envisages that the MPSC will have a 50,000-seat multi-purpose main stadium, a 5,000-seat sports ground and a 4,000-seat indoor multi-purpose sports arena. In addition to hosting sports events, the complex will provide a venue for events such as concerts, exhibitions and carnivals. The MPSC will be a sports park for Hong Kong, with a mixture of high-quality sports facilities for public use, open space, park features and retail and dining outlets so that the wider public and visitors to Hong Kong can enjoy the park throughout the day, seven days a week.
